About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale the infrastructure that powers Quanvers' systematic trading platform. This is a foundational role where you'll shape the technical architecture that supports our research, backtesting, execution, and risk management systems.
You'll work across the entire stack—from low-latency execution engines and real-time data pipelines to distributed compute infrastructure and monitoring systems. You'll collaborate closely with quantitative researchers to understand their needs and translate them into scalable, reliable software systems.
We're looking for someone with deep expertise in production systems, a strong track record of building high-performance software, and the ability to balance speed of iteration with system reliability. This role offers competitive compensation including equity, significant technical autonomy, and the opportunity to build infrastructure from the ground up at a growing quantitative firm.
What You'll Do
- • Design and implement low-latency execution engines for order routing, position management, and trade reconciliation
- • Build distributed data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving market data at scale
- • Develop and optimize backtesting infrastructure for rapid strategy evaluation
- • Create real-time monitoring and alerting systems for trading operations and infrastructure health
- • Build APIs and tools to enable researchers to deploy strategies seamlessly from research to production
- • Architect and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) including compute, storage, and networking
- • Implement robust CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows
- • Optimize system performance including latency, throughput, and resource utilization
- • Ensure system reliability, disaster recovery, and security best practices
- • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making
Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems
- • Expert-level proficiency in Python and at least one systems programming language (C++, Rust, Go)
- • Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and asynchronous programming
- • Experience designing and building low-latency, high-throughput systems
- • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- • Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS)
- • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) and time-series data stores (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB)
- • Strong understanding of networking, protocols, and system architecture
- • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog)
- • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex systems
- • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with quantitative researchers
Nice to Have
- • Prior experience in quantitative finance, trading systems, or fintech
- • Knowledge of FIX protocol, market data feeds (CME, ICE), and broker APIs
- • Experience with stream processing frameworks (Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming)
- • Familiarity with quantitative research workflows and backtesting systems
- • Understanding of ML infrastructure and model deployment (MLOps)
- • Experience with high-performance computing and GPU acceleration
- • Knowledge of security best practices, compliance, and audit requirements
- • Open source contributions or technical blog writing
What We Offer
- • Competitive base salary with performance-based bonuses and meaningful equity
- • Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match
- • Flexible work arrangements with hybrid remote options
- • Generous learning budget for conferences, courses, and certifications
- • Top-tier equipment and unlimited access to cloud compute resources
- • Collaborative team environment working on challenging technical problems
- • Significant technical autonomy and ownership of major platform components
- • Opportunity to build infrastructure from the ground up and shape technical direction
